Sommertanken - AJ Meet-up in July 2021

Sommertanken July 2021 (239).jpg

When I cycled up the coast to a familiar place, I have not visited for a long time the sun was already shining bright and it was really warm. Usually, that means a guaranteed good turn-up, but… it is late July which means the entire Denmark is shut down, as everyone travels either to their summerhouse, abroad or both at the same time! What a positive surprise it was when the cars kept on coming to the Arne Jacobsen’s designed gas station, which meant every car lover was satisfied.

The variety of automobiles was great. When I arrived, a big smile appeared on my face as I noticed one of my favourite vehicles of all times, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale. I have had my first encounter with Giulietta SS Prototipo in 2017 (you can read more about it here) and ever since it has a special place in my petrolheart. Taking one of the prime spots it just shined like a diamond and her aerodynamic lines worked their magic on the visitors and by-passers.

A big smile appeared on my face as I noticed the beautiful Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale.

There were also a couple of GT 1300 Junior followed by another red Italian - the Ferrari 348 TS. Quite unusually, there were three Lotus Esprits visiting, including a white first series model, which gained its recognition by appearing in James Bond’s “The Spy Who Loved Me” known as Wet Nellie. As per such car meet-ups standards there were many Porsches, including 356, 944 and of course countless 911 and 912. Out of the former what appealed to me was a matching trim of Rennsport built 911, with its blue tartan interior. What a car! The rest of the pack was no less impressive - but judge by yourself and enjoy the pictures!
