Museo Enzo Ferrari - Memories from 2017

Museo Ferrari - Modena 2017 (69).jpg

Just twenty kilometres away from an amazing Museo Ferrari in Maranello (more about which you can read here) there is another special place that doubtlessly helped to shape the automotive world we know today. Home to a true visionary, great racing driver and the founder of a car manufacturing brand that forms dreams not only for children, but also for countless adults - signor Enzo Anselmo Giuseppe Maria Ferrari.

Ferrari definitely grasped that concept and rightfully decided to build upon Enzo’s heritage and legend, so the 2’500 square metres halls do not only exhibit his phenomenal automobiles, but also tell the very interesing story of his life that spanned for ninety years! For that reason, some of the rooms of the original studio and house are accessible to visitors, who can experience how the maestro felt at work. On the other hand, that classic workshop now adjoins to a beautifully retrofitted and spectacularly looking building, matching the brand’s design finesse.

All around are Ferraris, such as 166MM Touring Superleggera or 340MM Barchetta by Vignale!

Untypically for a automotive museum, the visitors are welcomed by a boat. But it is not just any boat - it is a futuristic hydroplane called Timossi-Ferrari Arno XI and I have never seen anything like it in my entire life. Next, we enter a large display hall that every quarter or so converts to the likes of a movie theather, playing a short video and using the play of light and sound. All around are Ferraris, ranging from 166MM Touring Superleggera or 340MM Barchetta by Vignale, through more modern vehicles such as 288 GTO or F40 to the recent creations in the likes of LaFerrari Aperta or stunning gran turismo - the F12 Berlinetta TDF. There was also a special gem which can only be recognized by the true fans - a custom built SP12 EC, bringing the legacy of Berlinetta Boxers anew and built for Eric Clapton.

The second exhibition space is devoted to racing and engines. Eager tifosi can admire here proper gran turismo racers proudly represented by a Ferrari 550 Maranello GTS with another special car only a few steps - a 360 Modena in a GT3 specification. In the middle displayed were different engines from various F1 single seater generations, with many interesting facts and nuances described all around. Do you know how Hy-Kers engines work? Here is a chance to learn about it!

The exhibition is stunning and time inside just flies! Have you ever been to either of the two museums? If not, it is time to start packing!

Have you already seen the other part on the Ferrari Museum in Maranello? If not, explore more here!
