Retro Classics - Stuttgart 2020
Retro Classics organized in Stuttgart are usually one of the first classic moto-fairs during a season, falling at the very end of February and catching the beginning of March. This year, however, noone expected this event will also be one of the last, as due to the pandemic outbreak larger gatherings were shut down and countries were going into lockdowns. Such turn of events caused for example the ICE St. Moritz and Geneva International Motor Show announcing the cancellations at the same time Retro Classics was on.
The crown jewel of the entire fairs were doubtlessly the racing machines from the ROFGO Gulf Heritage collection, proudly welcoming visitors (visually fewer than normally at such events) to Messe Stuttgart. Exhibits included astonishing 1970 Porsche 917, 1997 McLaren GTR F1 Longtail, 1968 Ford GT40 as well as a 1973 McLaren M23/4 Formula 1 single-seater. All that exhibition was supervised by a life-sized figure of Steve McQueen, looking like he just jumped out from Le Mans movie set!

The rest of the show was not any less interesting either. Wandering around several halls one could admire the lines of many classics, however, primarily consisting of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. These from the former included a 300SL Gullwing with unusual, composite air intake, its younger brother SLS as well as racing-speced 722 SLR. The other brand from Stuttgart was represented by countless 356 and 911, from every era and in every single body and engine one could imagine. The choice was yours! In addition, there were nice Bugatti, Lancia Stratos Alitalia and 037 Martini and several Gullwings from the usual suspects - HK Engineering. Take a look!
