Poznan Retro Motor Show 2020

Poznań Retro Motorshow (121).jpg

My autumn trip to Poland coincided with a classic cars fair in Poznan - Retro Motor Show. As I had a day to spare, I decided to pay it a visit and check out, whether or not the Polish vintage automotive scene is catching up with its western, more developed counterparts. Organised in the halls of Ponan International Fairs in the very centre of the city, the event gathered quite a few enthusiasts.

It will not come as a surprise to anyone, I guess, that the Retro Motor Show lacks the exclusivity and style of what the car geeks can expect from any fairs established on the other side of the Oder. Regardless of that, there still were few interesting stands. Doubtlessly the biggest was the one by Gielda Klasyki, who displayed, amongst others a Bitter SC, Fiat 130 Coupe and even a… Mercedes Unimog! Citroen presented a vast array of their classics to celebrate the 100th anniversary. A very interesting stand was prepared by the Great Poland Automobilclub - some classics were really patinaed, some covered in leaves and Volvo P1800 was displayed amongs blocks of hay! Really extraordinary and well executed idea.

There were two displays that stood out from the others - and both were full of Porsche!

There were two displays that stood out from the others with the quality of the exhibits - done by Porsche themselves and Car 911 from Czestochowa. Whilst both presented mainly Porsches, the official stand had both brand new models as well as classics - with an amazing 356 1600 Super. Guys from Car 911 had a good variety, too: a Range Rover Coupe, a silver RUF 996, a well-restored 914 and of course as the name obliges - two 911. The first one was meticulously re-built early model from 1966 and the second, equipped with additional Lucas headlights from 1973. To top it all off, in the back of their trailer, they made an amazing Martini Racing diorama - just take a look!
