Visit at Porsche Museum in Stuttgart

Porsche Museum Stuttgart (326).jpg

Stuttgart is doubtlessly one of the few automotive Meccas car enthusiast should visit. Home to the very famous Porsche and Mercedes, the city is also host to Retro Classics motor show each February. It was the latter that was my goal, but I could not pass on visiting the history museum of either of the aforementioned brands. Since I did not have the time for two, I flipped the coin and… Porsche it was!

The decision was great! Even though the museum can be explored in a couple of hours it is best to devote a good part of the day to admire nearly 100 cars and almost 200 smaller exhibits and memorabilia. On display is everything that made Porsche the carmaker they are today - starting through the first electric motor ever built, through the beginnings of Ferdinand Porsche designing famous Volkswagen Käfer all the way to newer racing models successful both on the tracks and unbeaten paths of Dakar! To showcase the scale of the victories a rather impressive collection of trophies is presented in the museum - and those are not all!

The biggest impression was left by the“Pink Pig” or “Der Trüffeljäger von Zuffenhausen” - Porsche 917/20 and Porsche 935/78 “Moby Dick”

Designed by Delugan Meissl architects, the very modern and envelope of hides something really special. The biggest impression on me was made by the famous “Pink Pig” or “Der Trüffeljäger von Zuffenhausen” - a racing Porsche 917/20, followed closely by not less popular Porsche 935/78 “Moby Dick”. Cars meant originally for the road were jaw-dropping, too! The 550 Spyder create the aura of James Dean and the very first, silver 911 Turbo without the flared body and chequered red interior glowed with its simple beauty. There was of course also the Porsche Diesel Standard 218… Tractor!

What can I tell you more? Just visit it yourself and before then - enjoy the photos!
