Museo Ferrari Maranello - Memories from 2017
Following Concorso d’Eleganza in 2017 I took a week to do a roadtrip around Northern Italy, trying to take full advantage of my first visit to the wonderful Italia. I headed south from Como to what probably is the most amazing automotive region in the World, formed by the cities of Maranello, Modena and Bologna. Have any of you expected any other direction?
Collection exhibited by Ferrari is split into two locations - Museo Ferrari in Maranello and Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena, where the visionary lived throughout his life (read about it here). But today I want to focus on the former, with its beautiful headquarters are located just few steps away from the factory as well as the famous Fiorano Circuit, where all new cars and prototypes are tested to their limits. Driving around you can obviously see many Ferraris but also… an Iveco carrying the F12 TdF body on its flatbed! What a sight!
One could not miss a 250 GTO, 275 GTB, the Daytona or slightly unrecognized 500 Superfast.
The exhibitions are simply jaw dropping. On display are historical vehicles starting from the very first Ferrari 125S, going through amazing Ferrari 166 Barchetta Touring Le Mans and wrapping up the begginings in the likes of Ferrari 250 LM in a phenomenal silver body. When the appetite is already high one can, together with the picture of Enzo, admire the supperleggera body frame of the Ferrari 250 GTO or a beautiful, naked V12 engine. Further down the visit there were more famous gran turismos, featuring the 365GTB/4 Daytona slightly stuck behind a beautiful 250 SWB, making for a perfect duo. One could not miss a 275 GTB or one of my favourites from Maranello, amazing but slightly unrecognized Ferrari 500 Superfast.
Lastly, there is a section on racing cars, where all the more important single seaters are displayed on a special stand. This, combined with vintage recordings of F1 racing tells the story of grand victories, for which the Prancing Horses were always known and admired by Tifosi. It would be incredibly hard to leave this place, if it was not for ‘part two’ waiting for me at Casa di Enzo Ferrari!
Did you like this part of the Museum? If so, you may want to check out Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena!
