Let’s Meet at the Station… for the Second Time!
Last weekend at the AJ Tanked increased my appetite for the local meet-ups. Taking an opportunity of a free holiday weekend I once again decided to go up north with high hopes for a good meeting. Contrary to seven days ago it might have been against the odds - skies were grey, it was windy and much, much colder. Do I need to add it has just rained when I left? It definitely impacted the participations and someone even laughed that due to the weather conditions it were only German and British cars, that showed up, whilst all the Italians stayed home! Well, that definitely counted for some variety when I arrived…
But when talking about arriving in style there only can be one winner - a fantastic BMW Z1 driving in with its doors down. This rare and interesting roadster was introduced by the Bavarian manufacturer in 1989 and is known by its famous doors that open by retracting downwards. It is characterised by quite high sills that although are not helping to get in or out, provide with crash protection and the sliding process is a great show. The door starts to slide down followed by the window and soon, the portal is fully open. When you call this futuristic, remember we are in 1989!
Passing the station revving high up, the Morris looked picturesque and worked as a time machine to the pre-war extravaganza.
A second star of the day was in my book a car I remember from my first days of arriving to Denmark in 2014, living in Østerbro - a 1936 Morris, bodied as a open top duoposto. It looks very similar to some racing cars based on model Eight and is driven by a very charismatic owner, who definitely goes for it when driving it. Passing the station revving the engine high up looked picturesque and works as a time machine to the pre-war extravaganza. There were more automobiles at the station, of course, but hey, since these two described above are hard to beat, experience the rest through the below photoshoot!
