Good Morning September - AJ Tanken

Whenever I went to the Saturday Cars & Coffee meet-ups at the AJ Tanken I used to be positively surprised. Either the weather was crap and there were fifty cars on the spot already or it was amazing summer weekend with expectance of high turn-up, and there was no parking spot left. This time it was twenty-one degrees, sunshine all over the place (which in September is not too obvious in Denmark) and… I am not sure if the meet-up capped twenty cars. The atmosphere was great though and there were some unseen kids on the block!

The first car that striked me at the entrance was a 1967 Fiat Dino Spider, finished with an amazing colour Bleu Francia on black interior, with yellow beam headlights - very sleek and refreshing when compared to usual red-over-black. Dinos were one of the most exciting and advanced cars produced in the late 60s, with its heart being the famous V6 associated with Alfredo ‘Dino’ Ferrari. Funnily enough, body for the Spider was designed by Pininfarina whilst the Coupe was done by Bertone. You tell me who has done a better job!

Aside the blue Italian beauty there were also two fantastic Jaguar E-Types - a coupe in red and a spider in a classic British Racing Green, both attracting quite a crowd. Some of the visitors arrived on their vintage Vespas once again proving how timeless these machines are. Midway through my visit arrived a Ferrari F355 Berlinetta and parked next to a Morgan Plus 4, charming spectators with a contrast it created. At the forefront of the station there was a Porsche 356, an MG A and two Porsches 944 - one even being a Turbo! Well, it could have been a small meet-up, but definitely a one worthwhile visiting!
