Two Cheeky Italians - Last Toldboden of 2018

Toldboden Last Meet-Up (5).jpg

The end of September brought back the sunny weather. It also brought the classic car meet-ups back to where they originally happen – in front of Toldboden Bar & Grill and right beside the canal. Although it seemed like not so many owners believed in the miraculous weather turnaround and the turn-up was pretty low, the meeting definitely had its moments.

On this particular day, I had two clear, Italian winners – a fantastic Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce and a race-stylised Ferrari 308GTB. The Alfa was a proper race car – and the owner himself admitted that he uses and abuses her at various races, including the start in the Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix. Neither the bodywork nor the paint was perfect, but in this case, it only added to the character of the car. Although inside one could find a proper rally cage, the dashboard was left unmodified, leaving the lovely spirit of a Quadrifoglio Verde Alfa. I will keep on saying that they do not make such beautiful cockpits anymore. They stopped in the late 80s.

Painted in Pioneer livery of the Charles Pozzi, the 308GTB looked amazing in the sunset!

On the contrary, although the 1976 Ferrari was not the typically-looking 308GTB you will see on a street (regardless how often you see one), it was just imitating its Group 4 counterpart. Painted in Pioneer livery of the original driver, Charles Pozzi, it looked really interesting when the sun went down. Its details started to really blossom with my absolute winner being the yellow headlights, warning that something special is coming. It had a 2.9 litre V8 with four, triple-choked Weber carburettors, generating a solid 255 horse-power and plentiful of music for the petrolheads’ ears. Simply breath-taking!
