Classics in Radom - Season’s Opening 2022

UNEXPECTEDLY LOVELY DAY WITH CLASSICS

I need to be honest here, I was not expecting much from the classic cars season’s opening in Radom. I was on the verge of skipping it, but a short roadtrip with Kuba and Adam from Alfa Romeo Classic Polonia got me convinced. Eventually… it turned out to be a very good decision after all.

We parked next to Lamboghini LP400 „Periscopio” in rare Arancio. What a company!

After a nice drive we have arrived at the Corrazzi Square in the heart of Radom and were directed right in front of the Sandomierz Palace and the scene. We were aware there is supposed to be an Italian corner set-up, but what came as a great surprise was to be parked next to a Lamborghini Countach LP400 “Periscopio” in a lovely and rare Arancio. What. A. Company!

OLD TOWN SUMMER VIBE

The entire happening was very well organised. There was a central scene from where two very famous in Poland automotive presenters – Rafał Jemielita and Jaroslaw Maznas – narrated the day. They invited car owners for discussion as well as led short panels on various topics, such as peculiarities of registering the classic car on vintage registration plates. The audience was really interested and many have stopped to listen to the show.

The weather played a big part and the cobblestone street with classic cars parked all along was simply bathed in sunshine. The exhibits covered vehicles from almost all categories and every visitor could find something to their taste. Following the Countach were three Alfas from our club – Bertone’s 1300 Junior and 1750 GT Veloce followed by a Giulia Super. However, it was not the end to Italian classics with quite a few Fiats 128 and 131, followed by a single 124 Spider. Parked not so far away from these were Lancia Flavia and Fiat 850 Spider. Their colours contrasted nicely and it turns out that dark cherry and turquoise is a match!

Well represented were of course the cars from the People’s Republic of Poland era. There were quite a few FSM Syrena 105s in both coupe and van, a NSU and obviously… some FSM 126p. One that really stood out was a light violet one with interesting, three-spoked rims painted artistically with splashes of colourful paint. Badged as Abarth it is as far from it as it can get, but no one can deny its loveliness! Similarly cute were two Volkswagen Beatles in yellow and blue, with the podium completed by a hearse full of Minions. An interesting concept!

IT WAS SIMPLY A RELAXING DAY

It was a second day in the row where the event I visited beamed with great vibe, interesting conversations and was simply relaxing. Sitting in a nearby restaurant, having good Italian lunch and discussing great ideas with like-minded people when watching loads of car enthusiasts wandering around classics is nearing a perfect Sunday!
