A DIFFERENT TAKE AT A PORSCHE
This year’s Polish Concours of Elegance at the Rozalin Palace was a great occasion to celebrate automotive passion and culture. Such events attract likeminded partners and one of them was CarBone - Polish manufacturer restoring and modifying Porsches from all over the world. Whilst CarBone’s founder and co-owner Pawel Kalinowski was a member of the jury, the company itself displayed an impressive array of three finely customised 911.
One of my favourites was the hot premiere of Criollo. It is a 911 SC modified to a 3.2 short stroke engine originally belonging to William Bruce McNeir – a Porsche mechanic from the San Francisco area. Repainted matte in its original mocha brown colour, today Criollo is a finely tuned nine-eleven taking its nickname from the uttermost quality, luxurious cocoa bean. Written using original Carrera font it suits the car perfectly!
Janiukova wore exactly the same “livery” as her CarBone counterpart and standing there provided everyone with that “check-mate” look.
CHECK-MATE
There could only be one queen, though! Exhibited at a giant chess board belonging to the palace garden was a white 911 nicknamed The Queen. Once again a thoroughly modified exhibit featuring a lightweight chassis, lightweight body parts widening the body to accommodate massive tires on Fuchs wheels. Grip is well needed, as the power train comes from a 3.0 tuned engine. Even the duck-tail can come in handy! The project used to be secret for a long time as every detail was perfected no matter the time. Would you believe only the bodywork consumed 1500 hours?!
Then, something extraordinary for a game of chess happened and we had two queens on the board. Paulina wore exactly the same “livery” as her CarBone counterpart and standing there provided everyone with that “check-mate” look. There is no clear winner in this game of chess – but does there always need to be one?
