Geneva International Motorshow 2019
March is the time of the year when all eyes of the automotive world are looking at Geneva, with its probably most famous Motorshow in the World. Organised for the first time in 1905, the 89th edition of the event took place in the usual Palexpo Halls just outside of Geneva airport. It has been my second time to the show and the atmosphere of the show, as well as the city, worked like magnet on me and I could not miss it for a consecutive year. The decision to visit was spot on!
Premieres at the Geneva International Motor Show are usually one of the greatest, if not the greatest in the World. This year was no exception, and the only problem I have as a writer is where to start, as I am sure I will not cover everything. Bugatti brought across the most expensive production car ever - La Voiture Noire - alongside with another stunner - Divo. Its fierce competitor, Koenigsegg, presented spectacular Jesko, whilst Aston Martin followed up with phenomenal Valkyrie. Ferrari presented another V8 star called F8 Tributo, superseding the surprisingly four year old 488 GTB. Tempus fugit.
Premieres at GIMS Swiss are usually one of the greatest, if not the greatest in the World.
The concept car market was also full of amazing novelties. Hispano-Suiza made an interesting come back by presenting Carmen - a supercar with gullwing-hybride, McLaren-alike doors and just few steps away Aston Martin again excelled by showing the Lagonda All-Terrain version. There were two interesting concepts by manufacturers who usually produce more down-to-earth cars - Peugeot and Renault. The first French carmaker brought a futuristic, but somewhat realistic e-Legend, taking heaps from classic Peugeot 504 Coupe. Renault on the other hand unveiled an autonomous saloon called EZ-Ultimo, which was simply impressive.
These few days at Palexpo halls are simply magical and it is virtually impossible to explain all that happens in words. I hope the pictures will show better the magical magnet, that brings frequent visitors back to Geneva March by March, year by year!
